Alligators

Screenshot 2017-09-27 at 11.28.05 AM.png

In this task I was given a comprehension about one of the scariest animals in the word which is alligators. Reading this comprehension and shocking me is that alligators can grow to be 15 feet long, and them having long sharp teeth is the scary part. The author has used a great dialogue to represent the comprehension and a good description about alligators. Answering the question was easy because the text was very small and the questions was not challenging enough. In the future I want more of these comprehension but more challenging.

Todays task was to go on a site named minus numbers in outer space. In this activity I was given math question to make my spaceship move faster to win the race. Doing this activity was easy, so easy that I was winning but unfortunately I got the last question wrong which would put me back and made me 2nd place. Answering these questions was not a challenge knowing that the game gave me easy questions. In the future I want more games like this but more challenging.

Information Report - Dragonfly

Screenshot 2017-03-29 at 12.07.18 PM.png

Dragonflies are insects that shouldn't be taken away or harmed because they are important to our local creeks. Dragonflies live in most parts of the world but they prefer to live in creeks lakes or rivers.

Dragonflies are creatures that live up to 7 months and they move by using their big wings and hover like a helicopter.

Dragonflies are insects that eat other insects such as moths, butterflies and other smaller insects. Dragonflies have six legs and have a long body with big eyes that fill most of its head and can see from every angle but behind them.

Dragonflies don't sting and luckily don’t bite people and been around for 300 million years. But people living in the philippines like to eat dragonflies which is sad.

Lastly their home is everything thing there have if you take it away from them by trashing it, who knows what will happen.

And has also used great punctuations, getting facts from this comprehension was amazing I never knew the water circle has been going on ever since dinosaurs took step on land. In the future I want more of these comprehension because it gives me great facts.

In this activity the aim is making different patterns in the box by using the numbers 1 to 9. This task was easy for me but finding new patterns was a bit,  and I learnt that you can't get the answer by guesting all the time.

Description Writing (Blueberries)

Taste
Disgusting and nasty
Feel
Cold and wet
See
Ugly and yucky
Hear
Nothing
Smell
Sweaty armpits
As my teacher was walking towards me with the organic blueberries I had a undesirable face because I knew I wouldn't like the taste, she came to me with the packet and I grabbed myself some blueberries. As I was looking at it with a disgusted face it reminded me of the polluted creek and I felt like throwing it in the bin but I didn't want to be ungrateful. I held my nose and drop the berry into my mouth and just like that my stomach started to twist and so it was disgusting and nasty and I didn't want more.

This site was a bit hard to use, so I click on the help button to help me, but besides that I got most of them right and some wrong and now that I am good at it, I can use my great punctuation skills in my writing.

Story on Omaru Creek

Name:William

Creeks and streams has been in our lives for many years now. Recently most of does years they were polluted because factories has been coming, dragonflies are dispersing and people are too lazy to put there rubbish in the bin.

A creek or a stream deserves to be clean, you might not know but fish in the ocean started they journey in a creek or a stream and as they start growing older they make they way to the ocean. But now that creeks are dirty we won't be having fish coming anymore. Trees are starting to be cut down and that was bad because trees keep the water cool by providing shade, if the tempters too hot creatures could be start dying, and now the creek is getting worse by the second.

So if you see anybody littering please tell them to put it in the bin.

Today my maths group had been given maths problem on a site. As you can see I had solved one problem and it was (⅝ x ⅘? I multiply the denominators numbers together and did the same thing with the numerators, Which would give me 20/40 then I simplify the fraction. How many 20s in 20 is 1 and how many 20s in 40 is 2 so the answer was ½)

I was born and raised in Fenchurch St, Glen Innes. My whanau had come here as part of the Housing NZ culture. My mum has passed away and my dad moved back to Kaipara, so I now live in my old family home with my wife and four children
There's a proverb that says, "Ko au te awa, Ko te awa ko au", which means "I am the river and the river is me". The Omaru River runs through the centre of GI from the Tamaki River and that proverb explains my connection to the area. When my great-grandmother moved here, back in the 50s or 60s, it was an abundant place.
The volcanic soils were great for growing, and snapper could be caught in the fishing grounds. There used to be mullet and flounder too. We grew up fishing with my dad, floundering in the shallow areas. We used to get oysters and pipi, and puha from the rivers.
The river is really polluted now - we swam in it when I was a kid, but there's no way you'd put a child in it now. There are some planting initiatives to regenerate the area, and because I'm a home boy, my role in all this it to engage the residents, to have them remember what the river is, for us all to become accountable.
We lived in and on the river, so these staged developments will become a lifestyle, igniting the people into action - businesses, council and residents.
There are still some good trails and pathways though, some good walks, from GI town centre through to Tamaki River, or along the Panmure riverside all the way through to Glendowie, all the way to St Heliers. For me, Tahuna Torea Nature Reserve is an example of what can be done. In the 70s or 80s, it was going to be a dump and then a marina, and the locals said no. They made a deal with the council and started regenerative native planting. It's a real treasure for us now.

Omaru Creek Velocity

Today we went down to look at the speed of the water in Omaru Creek.  We made some paper boats, took it down there and let them sailed in the water.  It was great to see the water flowing and not standing still like the first time we went there.
